Desert Secrets Exhibition

The newest exhibition here at the UMFA is Desert Secrets, a photography selection from the museum’s permanent collection. Desert Secrets shows stimulating scenes of the Southwestern desert using traditional photography techniques as well as more innovative forms of digital imaging. The wide variety of photographs strives to capture the elusiveness of these barren deserts. Though the deserts seem largely uninhabited, this exhibition explores the mysterious relationships humans have to the vast, unoccupied regions by touching on themes of technological intrusions to the land, nuclear testing, and conspiracy theories. In addition to our Museum exhibition, we have also launched an online exhibition entitled Patrick Nagatani’s Nuclear Enchantment. This virtual exhibition complements Desert Secrets and highlights the work of innovative artist Patrick Nagatani. This is an awesome virtual exhibition so be sure to check it out!
