I’m going to the Artist Talk and Panel Discussion with Martha Wilson tonight at the UMFA (5pm-7pm). Wilson will deliver a presentation about her work, which will be followed by a lively panel discussion with the artist and regional scholars, moderated by Sarah Hollenberg, visiting assistant professor of art history at the University of Utah. Other panelists are: Rachel Middleman, assistant professor of art history at Utah State University; Sydney Cheek-O’Donnell, head of theatre studies at the University of Utah; and Elizabeth Clement, associate professor of history at the University of Utah.
The exhibition “Martha Wilson: Staging the Self” presents work dealing with issues of assumed and projected identity, as well as examples of Martha Wilson’s curatorial practice, in which she provides a site for the exploration of avant-garde art.
Our Community Partners for the event include Beano Solomon and Planned Parenthood.
